The Music Force history:
Beginning life as a record/CD retailer in the late 1980's. Originally called Smart St Music, and located in the Smart St Mall. Then gradually evolving into a musical instrument store during the mid 1990's. Later in 2001 buying Music House in Rockingham, and joining Australia's largest buying group "World of Music". Later changing their name to "Music Force" and moving to a new professional premises in 2006.
Music Force today:
Today Music Force aims to give an environment to "achieve the dream". Helpful, knowledgeable, enthusiastic musician staff help and encourage musicians from beginners to professionals, whether its to buy their dream instrument or a set of guitar strings.
Music Force offer a full range of brand name instruments and accessories at the right price by being member of Australia's largest independant buying group Complete Music, with all the support and encouragement that you could need. Offering lessons, repairs, service and hire completes the Music Force picture.
A little about Bob Applyard:
Bob Appleyard, managing director of Music Force started music whilst at school in England during the early 60's. Trying various instruments Bob settled into percussion and by the age of 15 was principal percussionist for the South of England youth orchestra.
Bob came from a musical family with an uncle who was a professional dance band drummer and an older brother who was a successful jazz saxophonist. So when Bob finished school in 1969 he worked regularly in dance, rock and jazz bands along the south coast of England.
Turning professional in 1973 and moving to Hong Kong with the English band the "Ken Barry Seven" Bob went on to work as a session singer/musician for E.M.I Records and performed nightly at some of the biggest hotels in Hong Kong.
Meeting his wife Roslyn in 1976 as she toured the world with "Walt Disney" as a professional dancer, the couple then moved to there new home of Perth. Founding member of "Beatnix", "Ice in Stereo", musical director for "Buddy Loren" and resident drummer for 2 years at Burswood from 1985 - 1987 working as a drummer on various recordings and studio sessions worked in the early 80's as front man in larger touring shows throughout Japan, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia and Thailand. Finally retiring from full time playing in 1989.
Nowadays Bob regularly performs as drummer/percussionist in most Mandurah Performing Arts Centre in house productions. Drummer/vocalist for Mandurah Jazz and drummer with well known Perth guitarist Cliff Lynton.
Bob is an accomplished reader and performer of most percussion instruments and drum kits as well as an experienced vocalist.
